Shopping spree to the Gatineau mall just before the Juno Awards!

We’ve already had a taste of spring during a few warmer days in recent weeks. Therefore, it’s time to put some new clothes in the wardrobe! The arrival of spring is the perfect time for a shopping spree. Visit at a Gatineau mall as we celebrate the Juno Awards in town.

Celebrating Canadian Music

The celebrations surrounding the Juno Awards – Canada’s biggest music celebration – are nomadic and they have decided this year to step foot in the capital, as part of the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. This big gala showcasing Canadian stars should make a lot of noise on Sunday, April 2, at the Canadian Tire Center. But the Junos are more than that : it is a full week of celebration of Canadian music. The JunoFest will be held on March 31 and April 1, for example, throughout the city. Concerts by The Strumbellas, Silla + Rise, The Dirty Nil and Whitehorse are planned, among others. A hundred more artists will attend.

Shopping Options

In anticipation of this festive week, shopping centers are key stops in Gatineau. When you think of shopping, what comes to your head first is major clothing stores. But at Les Promenades Gatineau, located on the corner of Maloney and Gréber boulevards, we can also find gifts and products for the home, beauty products or stores dedicated to the outdoors, for example. The site has more than 155 stores and was renovated in 2015.

Another shopping option is Les Galeries de Hull. Very close to the Casino du Lac-Leamy, the shopping center is home to dozens of shops, a tea house, a pedicure salon, eye doctors and much more. The city of Gatineau also has a smaller but very friendly shopping center, Place du Centre. Located near the Canadian Museum of Civilization, it houses jewellery stores, a tobacco shop, shoe shops, etc.

Outside of the Gatineau mall

If the weather is nice, a good walk on the main street of Vieux-Aylmer will fulfill all your needs and desires. Chocolates, terraces, art galleries… you can spend all of the day there!

Quebec and Canadian microbreweries have been expanding in recent years. In the Ottawa-Gatineau area, you will find on the main street of Saint-André-Avellin Le Brasse-Camarade Specialized convenience store. In addition to invigorating you in hops, this nice place is also a delicatessen. You can buy sausages, cheeses, coffees and other similar products. If you want to stay closer to Gatineau, there is the Boutique Broue Ha Ha, right in town. It will surely quench your thirst with its hundreds of beers. But if you prefer drinking tea, you will find a dedicated place in Gatineau: Cha Yi Tea House on Eddy Street.

When you are in town for the Juno Awards or for any other occasion, enjoy the many products for all tastes. Discover the work of local craftsmen in a Gatineau mall and book a night at the Ramada for optimal comfort after this well spent day!
